Samantha Burdman is a graduate of L'Academie de Cuisine's Pastry Arts Program. She got her professional start in Seattle, Washington, where she worked as a pantry cook and baker in several kitchens, including Grand Central Bakery and Eva Restaurant. She moved to Washington, DC in 2006 to attend L’Academie de Cuisine’s professional Pastry Arts program. After completing her externship at Bistro Bis, she stayed on to continue her training under Executive Chef Jeffrey Buben and Chef de Cuisine Joe Harran. She left Bis in 2007 to open Hook, working for award-winning Pastry Chef Heather Chittum. Samantha loves the ever-changing and dynamic pastry world, and continues to stage in kitchens across the country whenever she has the opportunity. Originally from Stamford, CT, Samantha holds a BA from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.
