Maro Nalabandian has lived and traveled in the Mediterranean, the Middle East, throughout Europe and the United States. As a longtime veteran of L’Academie de Cuisine, she began her career as a Chef Assistant in 1998, and completed her culinary and pastry training at L’Academie de Cuisine in 2000. She also attended the Notter International School of Confectionary Arts, the Nicholas Lodge International School of Confectionary and Sugar Arts, the Chocolate Academy and the French Pastry School for professional development.
She is passionate about her career. Her professional background includes positions at Michel Richard Citronelle, The Ritz-Carlton Hotels and catering at Sutton Place Gourmet (currently Balducci’s). Maro has been on the Food Network Show, attended the Las Vegas International Pastry Championship, and World Pastry Forum classes assisting prominent Chefs in the preparations.
Maro has taught culinary classes through Montgomery County, Maryland, Department of Alternative Programs and, now at L’Academie de Cuisine teaching a wide array of ethnic, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and European cuisines. Her professional membership include: Women Chefs and Restaurateurs, ICES and Culinary Historians of Washington. She has incorporated her style and technique with her passion and knowledge of culinary and pastry into the love of teaching others.
