Leslie Goldman-Poyourow began her cake design career after 20 years in federal marketing. Her love for baking led her to decorating classes ultimately studying with Colette Peters at the Confectionary Arts School run by Ewald Notter. Poyourow now has her own staff and is constantly creating delicious recipes and progressive designs at Fancy Cakes by Leslie in Bethesda Maryland. Fancy Cakes by Leslie is consistently voted “One of the Best for Wedding Cakes” in Washingtonian Magazine as well as the Top Vote Getter for 2006 & 2007 &2009. Poyourow was featured in The Washington Post in an article about the Top Cake Designers in Washington, D.C. and also in an Oxygen Network episode of “Real Weddings from the Knot” in January 2005. Leslie also created the winning cake for The Today Show wedding in 2005 and is featured twice on Ace of Cakes in 2007. In April 2008 she was honored to create a cake for the Pope's birthday at the Vatican Embassy. Currently Leslie's new venture is a retail store on Elm Street in Bethesda Maryland where she creates custom cakes and cupcakes for local Washingtonians.
