Jeff Heineman is a 1992 graduate of L'Academie de Cuisine and is currently the Owner/Chef of Grapeseed An American Bistro located in Bethesda. A talented yet unpretentious chef, Jeff loves to share his passion for food and wine. In 1996, Jeff and his partners opened the Rhodeside Grill in Arlington, Virginia. The Rhodeside Grill was designated as one of "America's Best Meal Deals" by the nationwide Zagat's survey, one of only 30 restaurants so designated in the Washington, DC area. Before launching the Rhodeside Grill, Jeff was sous-chef at the award-winning Cashion's Eat Place. While he was sous-chef, Cashion's was voted "Best New Restaurant" by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, and named to Phyllis C. Richman's Fifty Best in The Washington Post. Prior to his Cashion's experience, Jeff worked a lead sauté position at Kinkead's for two years. While Jeff was there, Bob Kinkead won many awards including the James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic.
Jeff’s unique concept for Grapeseed is to develop each dish to match a specific wine. According to Jeff, “We do our best to pick out the nuances of each wine and create a dish that highlights these characteristics. Most of our dishes and our wines are available in small, appetizer sized portions so you can sample various dishes and wines and see if you agree with our matches.
