Allyson Lara graduated from L’Academie’s Culinary Arts Program in 2003. She has worked in restaurants, including Bethesda’s Persimmon and (now closed) Ortanique in Washington, DC. While she is the Director of Admissions for L’Academie’s professional programs, she continues to work as a personal chef for individuals with special health concerns such as diabetes and kidney disease. Allyson frequently travels to Europe to visit family in Spain and to draw inspiration for her classes in a variety of cuisines. Prior to her food career, Allyson graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in English and worked in marketing for several large companies including Discovery Communications, Inc. and PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLC.
